Mrs. Christine Bender Frederick






















In 1860, Christine Bender was age 6, and resided in Sandusky, Ohio with her parents, Martin and Christine Bender, and her older sister Mary.By 1870, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Bender had three more children, Lena, Elizabeth, Martin. (Martin Bender, Jr. would go on to be a wholesale grocer in Sandusky for many, many years.) On May 2, 1876, Christine Bender married Adam J. Frederick. In 1900, Christine and Adam J. Frederick were living in Wooster, in Wayne County, Ohio with their teenage daughters, Cora and Lillian. Adam J. Frederick passed away in 1905 at the age of 51. By the time of the death of Martin Bender in 1913, Christine had moved to the Pittsburgh area. Christine Bender Frederick died in Pittsburgh on February 3, 1925. She was buried in Sandusky’s Oakland Cemetery. At the top of her tombstone is the inscription:

Mother
Till the day break, and the Shadows Flee Away


A beautiful ornate cross and a decorative border also adorn the tombstone of Christine Bender Frederick.
