Allen Monument at Green Lawn Cemetery

A zinc tombstone honoring the memory of Mr. and Mrs James Allen and their daughter Mary is located at Green Lawn Cemetery in Wilmot, Ohio, on Route 250 in the southwestern portion of Stark County.

The inscription for James Allen reads:

James Allen,
Born in
Somerset Co., PA.
Dec. 8, 1809
Died Mar. 30, 1890
Aged 80 y'rs 3 mo's 22 d'ys













The base gives us more details about the life of James Allen.










James Allen came to Wilmot,
Ohio, 1832; In 1836 he married
Annie Agler with whom he
lived happily for 53 years.


The name of Mr. Allen's wife and daughter appear on the opposite side of the tombstone:

Anyone who makes a trip to Ohio's "Amish Country" can learn a lot about the former residents of the area by taking time to walk through the area's many lovely cemeteries.
